► Biografía de The Police

The Police comienza su historia en Londres, en 1976. En la capital británica se unieron tres jóvenes músicos: el guitarrista francés Henry Padovani, Sting (que tocaba el contrabajo en un modesto grupo de jazz) y Stewart Copeland. The Police comienza subiéndose al carro del 'punk', de moda en aquella época, pera tanto Sting como Stewart odiaban la falta de calidad de aquel movimiento. Para mejorar en su propio estilo contratan a un conocido guitarrista, Andy Summers Su siguiente paso hacia el estrellato lo dieron al teñirse el pelo de rubio para un anuncio de chicles. Aquel sería su look durante varios años. Poco después The Police sacan su primer gran éxito, 'Roxanne', una desesperada canción de amor a una prostituta, un tema que fue censurado en todas las emisoras de habla inglesa, al igual que su siguiente tema, 'Can't Stand Losing You'.
